The Bar Is Open

It's Friday night and the bar is open! We won't be having our usual cocktails tonight, though. It's a lovely breezy evening, perfect for a bottle of wine.

Wine snobs will likely scoff at our choice this evening, but I'm okay with that. We're not wine snobs, we'll try almost any wine regardless of variety or price, so we will be enjoying our Gallo Moscato without their approval.

If you've never had it, Moscato is a sweet wine. It's not the sort of wine I would want to drink every day, but it's refreshing in the summer time.

If you're enjoying some wine or other drinks this evening, please remember to do so responsibly. Happy Friday, everyone!

Gallo was a sponsor for a cooking show I did on PBS thereforhad the opportunity to try their line which honestly I would have never purchased myself -much less my hubs who is a big wine snob. You know what? They were pretty good! Especially the whites for sprintzers with frozen green grapes on a hot day. The reds were perfect for sangria too. Cheers Willo! Have a sparkling weekend!

Abby - My brother is a wine snob, too (I use the term affectionately, it's not a bad thing!). He would laugh at me for buying Gallo and thinks sweet wines are like Kool-Aid! Moscato is too sweet for some people, but I like it in the summertime (and the Gallo was only $4 a bottle!). Some of our favorite wines are from Australia, but we'll try anything.

Have you tried Portuguese Green Wine? So delicious and refreshing ( and dirt cheap) perfect for summer.

Skip Breakfast And Have An Adventure

We're skipping breakfast again.  I know you were expecting Mr. Willoughby to dazzle you with his cooking skills, but he doesn't feel like cooking today.  He wants to go skydiving. Yesterday, a friend sent us a link to an article about a new place to skydive in Michigan.  When I clicked on the link, I was surprised to see a familiar face. We'll get to that in a minute. You may recall that Mr. W started skydiving by taking a tandem jump a few years ago.  With a tandem jump, having a great instructor makes the difference between a fun experience and an amazing experience and Mr. W had Josh Sheppard; one of the best.  Josh is experienced, enthusiastic and passionate about skydiving.  Mr. W had such an amazing experience that he decided to take the AFF course (to learn to jump solo) before they were back on the ground.   So back to that article, the familiar face I saw was Josh.  He and his brother Abe have started a new skydiving business in Owo...

It's Wednesday, Welcome Back To The Cocktail Party!

Welcome to Willoughby's Blog Style Cocktail Party. I hope you will find some new blogs to follow and expand your circle of blog friends. I know you're all anxious to mingle, so I'll get right to it. I'd like to introduce Deidra from Jumping Tandem .  I know you'll enjoy her blog as much as I do. Keeping It Real.... Deidra I'm an East Coast girl living in the midwest because I love my husband (I call him "H" around here) and his work brought us here. We have been blessed with two amazing children (currently in college) and an empty nest that I absolutely love! Don't get me wrong, I love my kids but they're destined to change the world and they can't do that living under my roof (although they're welcome back anytime for love, prayers, support, encouragement, and of course homecooked meals and clean laundry). Did I mention that H is a pastor? So that makes me the pastor's wife - but don't let that blur your vision. H is...

Bugging Out

Spring is such a wonderful time of year.  The birds have returned and greet each morning with their lovely songs.  The tree branches are covered with green buds ready to burst into life.  The grass has shed it's yellow/brown pallor in favor of a lovely emerald.  The air is warm and breezy.  It's all so lovely except for one thing.  The bugs. Because of our nearly uninhabitable climate during the winter months, we don't see many bugs from late October through early April.  I almost forget how much I hate them until they come back.  And they know I hate them so they taunt me.  Ever since the thermometer hit the 60 degree mark, we've had flies congregating around the back porch.  I can't sit out there and enjoy my morning coffee without having them buzz past me. Now, flies I hate, but spiders I absolutely loathe.  Friday morning I walked into the bathroom to dry my hair and spotted what I thought was a bumble ...
