I'm Puzzled

I have a painful issue with my foot right now, so while it heals, I'm spending less time on my feet and more time looking for things to entertain myself. I love puzzles of all sorts, as I've said before. One of my favorite types are jigsaw puzzles. I don't get to do them very often, though, because I just don't have a place to leave one set up for a few days until it's done. For that reason, I really enjoy online jigsaw puzzles. They're almost as much fun as the real thing without taking up space on my dining room table.

I found a great puzzle website today called Jigsaw Planet. There are some fun puzzles to do, or, better yet, you can create your own puzzles with your very own photos! You can make them simple or difficult and share them on your blog, or email them to your friends. Take a look at these.

If the puzzles above are taking too long to load, or you want to try them in full screen, click the box in the upper right corner of each puzzle box.

When you're through with these, go make some with your own photos. Have fun!

So, what's up with the foot? Bunions? Heel spurs? Hopefully you're on the mend really soon. In the meantime, enjoy those puzzles! I can't remember the last time I had the time to play. We used to really enjoy them, as a family, when the kids were younger and now it seems that we are always on the run with responsiblities and obligations to uphold. Fiddlesticks! I'm thinking a good old fashioned puzzle might be just the thing to reinvigorate the Sister household. I may have to carve out some time to do just that! Take care, dear friend.

My daughter loves puzzles but gets a bit bored after a while. They end up on the table forever because she never wants to put away an unfinished puzzle, it's like admitting defeat! This may be the answer!

We love puzzles too, but never do them enough. One time when my 5 year old daughter was sick, my husband went to the store for medicine and came back with a Cinderella puzzle for her. However he didn't look at the box closely enough - it was 500 pieces for adults! LOL Needless to say, it was spread out on the dining room table for days and we all worked on it together.

I'm sorry to hear about your foot. I hope it heals quickly & feels better soon. Puzzles are great when you're laid up. What a fantastic site! Thank you! I had no idea there were on-line puzzle sites.
I love jigsaw puzzles. As a kid, I used to do them over and over and when I finally got tired of a particular one, my mom and I would glue it with jigsaw puzzle glue and then she would frame it for me! I remember I had a 1500 piece Haunted House that took a long time but was a thing of beauty when completed. I kept that one together and glued it right away!

Have you ever done a 3-dimensional puzzle? I haven't but want to. There is a good site for fantastic puzzles such as the Taj Mahal!

Are you reading any good books? It's a good way to pass the time too!

Skip Breakfast And Have An Adventure

We're skipping breakfast again.  I know you were expecting Mr. Willoughby to dazzle you with his cooking skills, but he doesn't feel like cooking today.  He wants to go skydiving. Yesterday, a friend sent us a link to an article about a new place to skydive in Michigan.  When I clicked on the link, I was surprised to see a familiar face. We'll get to that in a minute. You may recall that Mr. W started skydiving by taking a tandem jump a few years ago.  With a tandem jump, having a great instructor makes the difference between a fun experience and an amazing experience and Mr. W had Josh Sheppard; one of the best.  Josh is experienced, enthusiastic and passionate about skydiving.  Mr. W had such an amazing experience that he decided to take the AFF course (to learn to jump solo) before they were back on the ground.   So back to that article, the familiar face I saw was Josh.  He and his brother Abe have started a new skydiving business in Owo...

Timeline

I made Spaghetti with Tomato Basil Cream Sauce and Chicken Parmesan for dinner last night. It's not a difficult meal to prepare, but it does require the oven and multiple burners on the cooktop so it heats up the kitchen. After dinner, it was still awfully warm inside, so I left all of the dishes right where there were and my husband and I went outside to sit on the back porch and cool off. We had eaten rather late, so it was already dark outside. Our neighborhood was uncharacteristically quiet and the only sounds were that of the crickets chirping and the faint whoosh of cars passing by on Main Street. It was a perfect summer evening, the sort that you dream about in the middle of February. I asked my husband what he thought we might have been doing at that exact moment one year ago. Had we been sitting in the same place enjoying similarly beautiful weather? Had I made the same meal for dinner? What about five years ago? How about 10, 15, and 20 years ago? I know I've taken a ...

Public Service Announcement

I'm not quite ready to come back yet, but I wanted to take a few minutes to post my version of a Public Service Announcement.  As many of you already know, I've been away from blogging due to illness.  However, what you may not know is that the illness is H1N1.  Yep, the Swine Flu. I can honestly say that I've never felt so terrible in my life.  I had heard that for most people, H1N1 is no worse than the regular seasonal flu.  I guess I'm not most people.  After 15 days, I'm only now beginning to feel slightly human.  I was unable to get vaccinated because our area ran out of vaccine months ago.  I understand that it has recently become available again, but it's too late for me.  It's not too late for you, though.  If the vaccine is available in your area and you haven't gotten it yet, I beg you to drop what you're doing and take your family to get vaccinated. If you ignore my advice and decide to develop your immunity by gettin...
