Party Favors

I am having a wonderful time with the cocktail party, and if the comments are any indication, all of you are enjoying it too.  It wasn't until yesterday that I realised I had forgotten to provide party favors to my guests.  What a major faux pas!  A good hostess always provides a little token for her guests to take home.

So here it is!  A party favor to post to your blog.

If you would like to post it to your blog, here is what you do:
  • Right click on the "favor" and save it to your picture file.
  • Sign in to your blog and click the heading "layout".
  • On the right or left side column, click "Add A Gadget".
  • Choose to add a picture.
  • Click "browse" and select the "favor" in your picture file.
  • Click "save" and you're done.  You can now move it wherever in the column you like.
If you want to get super fancy, you can link the picture directly to your appearance at the cocktail party.  To do that, follow the instructions above, but before you click "save", enter the url of your post in the space provided.  After that, click save.  Now visitors to your blog will be able to click on the "favor" and be magically transported to your guest appearance at the cocktail party!

Skip Breakfast And Have An Adventure

We're skipping breakfast again.  I know you were expecting Mr. Willoughby to dazzle you with his cooking skills, but he doesn't feel like cooking today.  He wants to go skydiving. Yesterday, a friend sent us a link to an article about a new place to skydive in Michigan.  When I clicked on the link, I was surprised to see a familiar face. We'll get to that in a minute. You may recall that Mr. W started skydiving by taking a tandem jump a few years ago.  With a tandem jump, having a great instructor makes the difference between a fun experience and an amazing experience and Mr. W had Josh Sheppard; one of the best.  Josh is experienced, enthusiastic and passionate about skydiving.  Mr. W had such an amazing experience that he decided to take the AFF course (to learn to jump solo) before they were back on the ground.   So back to that article, the familiar face I saw was Josh.  He and his brother Abe have started a new skydiving business in Owo...

Timeline

I made Spaghetti with Tomato Basil Cream Sauce and Chicken Parmesan for dinner last night. It's not a difficult meal to prepare, but it does require the oven and multiple burners on the cooktop so it heats up the kitchen. After dinner, it was still awfully warm inside, so I left all of the dishes right where there were and my husband and I went outside to sit on the back porch and cool off. We had eaten rather late, so it was already dark outside. Our neighborhood was uncharacteristically quiet and the only sounds were that of the crickets chirping and the faint whoosh of cars passing by on Main Street. It was a perfect summer evening, the sort that you dream about in the middle of February. I asked my husband what he thought we might have been doing at that exact moment one year ago. Had we been sitting in the same place enjoying similarly beautiful weather? Had I made the same meal for dinner? What about five years ago? How about 10, 15, and 20 years ago? I know I've taken a ...

Do These Cookies Come With Instructions?

I have a simple question to ask you.  What is a Christmas cookie?  I've celebrated Christmas every year of my life, but today was the first time I ever thought about the what the term actually means (my son says I have too much time on my hands).   When I looked it up online, the definition read "A sugar cookie, usually cut in festive shapes, that is made and eaten at Christmas."  Really?  Could I have been doing it wrong all these years? Does Christmas mean December 25th, or does it include the entire holiday season?  Would it still be a Christmas cookie if you ate it on Thanksgiving?  Or New Years Eve?  What about other types of cookies?  If I make Chocolate Truffle cookies, for example, can they technically be called Christmas cookies?   And should I wait until Christmas to serve them?    Who are Christmas cookies for?  I know a lot of people, myself included,  make up platter...
