An Award And Awkward!

I've been MIA this week.  Again.  Honestly, sometimes there aren't enough hours in the day to do all the things I want to do.  I've been busy with a project that I'll tell you more about very soon.  In fact, it has to do with a giveaway, so keep your eyes peeled!

An Award

Kathy and Seashell from Two Hands Full Of Daisies gave me the following award:

Thank you very much!  I'm so flattered that you would pass this award on to me!

Here are the rules:

List 10 things that make you happy. (try to do one of those things TODAY!)

Tag 10 bloggers that brighten your day.

Make sure to link back to the person that tagged you!

Ten things that make me happy:
  1. My family
  2. The end of winter (if it ever ends)
  3. Reading and writing blogs
  4. Music (see my player at the bottom of the page for some of my favorites)
  5. Cooking/baking
  6. Survivor and pizza on Thursday nights
  7. The ocean
  8. Family road trips and vacations
  9. Watching a good movie
  10. Reading a good book
I'd like to pass this award to these 10 bloggers (who always make me happy!):
  1. My Farmhouse Kitchen
  2. Conquer The Monkey
  3. Better Than Cured
  4. Cut and Dry
  5. EG&C
  6. Magical Places On Tuscany's Coast
  7. Matty's Thoughts
  8. Peeling An Orange With A Screwdriver
  9. Running With Letters
  10. Stir-Fry Awesomeness
If you haven't visited one or more of these bloggers, click on the links and check them out!  They're all very friendly!

NOTE:  While I was copying and pasting links, I realised that I didn't have some of my bestest blog buddies on my blogroll.  I can't believe I overlooked that!  If you are a follower and you aren't listed on my blogroll, please bring it to my attention.  Also, if you're a new follower and I haven't dropped by your blog to say "Hi", please tell me!  I try to stay on top of these things, but I do occassionally miss something.  Don't be shy, leave me a comment or send me an email and let me know!

Also, I'm having some major computer issues.  It seems that I need to click on buttons multiple times before my computer recognizes them.  If I've left the same comment on your blog two or three times in a row, that's why!   If anyone can recommend a good virus scanning program, I'd appreciate it (I have McAfee).  I'm not sure I have a computer virus, but something is certainly wrong.

Awkward!!

Have you ever had one of those moments when you wish you could suck the words right back into your mouth?  Maybe you said something you wish you hadn't, or something you said was misunderstood.  I've done it more times than I like to remember.  Here are a few things I wish I hadn't said.
  • At a company potluck luncheon, I warned a coworker not to eat the brownies.  I told her that I had seen other people spit them out.  That was when she told me that she had brought them.  It was a family recipe.
  • I was looking at a stack of sales brochures a friend had picked up when she was shopping for a new car.  I commented that one particular car was really ugly.  It was, of course, the car she had just ordered.
  • My boss and coworkers surprised me on my birthday with a cake that one of the women in our office had made.  Just before it was removed from the box, I said "I hope it doesn't have anything green on it" (my birthday is the day after St. Patrick's day).  It ended up being covered in green plastic shamrocks.  The paper plates and napkins for the cake were also covered in shamrocks.
  • A friend of mine was taking me on a tour of the house she and her husband had just bought.  She told me they wanted to do a lot of painting because the previous homeowners had made some terrible color choices.  When she showed me the bathroom, I told her I would paint that room first because it looked so bad.  It turns out that the bathroom was the only room they had already repainted.
How about you?  Ever put your foot in your mouth?

Thank you so much. I don't know how, but I'm glad reading here makes you happy. And I already know some of those other bloggers. Good choices.

I use AVG free edition. It's just that. Free. And it works great, at least that's my view on it.

From the sounds of it, you need to keep your feet firmly planted on the ground!! My big insert foot moment was when I asked a pregnant woman when she was due. Um.....she wasn't pregnant.

Those are some doozie awkward moments! My most recent one was this: I was at the store with my daughter and our checkout person was a little person. My daughter could not see him on the other side of the cash register and said (quite loudly, of course) "Mom, there is no one here to help us. Why did you pick a line where there is no one here?"

That's incredibly sweet of you :) Being new to this Blogger world, I really do cherish all your comments on my blog!

Cheers to you and our future friendship. Thanks for the award; I will keep this going on my blog (sometime tonight haha).

Thanks again and take care!

Thanks so much for the award!!!

I have McAfee too. I think it's a problem with Blogger and not with your computer. I had it happen to me a couple of times today and I had several instances of multiple comments on my last 2 posts. (I usually don't get those.)

I'm laughing at your open mouth-insert foot moments. Only because I'm usually the one saying things like that.

See, I just left a double comment. :) Blogger is wonky.
Oh, I have stuck my foot in my mouth too many times to count. Of course, no particular story is coming to mind right now...

I'm listening to some of your song selections as I write this. Music can sure stir emotions and the happy one is best.
Those are some good confessions of foot in mouth events.
It would be great to join your blogroll
thanks

Your "foot in the mouth" stories were hysterical. I was laughing so hard I almost choked on my tea. You are a great writer. Where's that book? I know, you have to wait until life slows down abit. But I'm just glad you have time to share your stories on this blog. :)

lisleman - I have problems leaving comments through discus. I tried to leave you a comment to let you know that I'm following you and adding you to my blogroll, but I don't think it worked.
Congratulations,
Your blog is wonderful and you are quite deserving of this award.

I enjoyed your stories too.

Now I know my foot has been in my mouth (figuratively, of course) many times, but I just can't think of a particular incident at the moment!

Thanks for reminding me never to dis the brownies! :)

I've been known to put my foot in my mouth more times than I care mention.
Thanks so much for the award--it brightened my day :)

I've blocked the memories of the many times I have put my foot in my mouth. it's all just too unbearable to think about. I am glad that you remembered and shared, though. It makes us all feel better to know we are not alone!

Skip Breakfast And Have An Adventure

We're skipping breakfast again.  I know you were expecting Mr. Willoughby to dazzle you with his cooking skills, but he doesn't feel like cooking today.  He wants to go skydiving. Yesterday, a friend sent us a link to an article about a new place to skydive in Michigan.  When I clicked on the link, I was surprised to see a familiar face. We'll get to that in a minute. You may recall that Mr. W started skydiving by taking a tandem jump a few years ago.  With a tandem jump, having a great instructor makes the difference between a fun experience and an amazing experience and Mr. W had Josh Sheppard; one of the best.  Josh is experienced, enthusiastic and passionate about skydiving.  Mr. W had such an amazing experience that he decided to take the AFF course (to learn to jump solo) before they were back on the ground.   So back to that article, the familiar face I saw was Josh.  He and his brother Abe have started a new skydiving business in Owo...

Timeline

I made Spaghetti with Tomato Basil Cream Sauce and Chicken Parmesan for dinner last night. It's not a difficult meal to prepare, but it does require the oven and multiple burners on the cooktop so it heats up the kitchen. After dinner, it was still awfully warm inside, so I left all of the dishes right where there were and my husband and I went outside to sit on the back porch and cool off. We had eaten rather late, so it was already dark outside. Our neighborhood was uncharacteristically quiet and the only sounds were that of the crickets chirping and the faint whoosh of cars passing by on Main Street. It was a perfect summer evening, the sort that you dream about in the middle of February. I asked my husband what he thought we might have been doing at that exact moment one year ago. Had we been sitting in the same place enjoying similarly beautiful weather? Had I made the same meal for dinner? What about five years ago? How about 10, 15, and 20 years ago? I know I've taken a ...

Public Service Announcement

I'm not quite ready to come back yet, but I wanted to take a few minutes to post my version of a Public Service Announcement.  As many of you already know, I've been away from blogging due to illness.  However, what you may not know is that the illness is H1N1.  Yep, the Swine Flu. I can honestly say that I've never felt so terrible in my life.  I had heard that for most people, H1N1 is no worse than the regular seasonal flu.  I guess I'm not most people.  After 15 days, I'm only now beginning to feel slightly human.  I was unable to get vaccinated because our area ran out of vaccine months ago.  I understand that it has recently become available again, but it's too late for me.  It's not too late for you, though.  If the vaccine is available in your area and you haven't gotten it yet, I beg you to drop what you're doing and take your family to get vaccinated. If you ignore my advice and decide to develop your immunity by gettin...
