Welcome Back To The Cocktail Party!

Welcome to Willoughby's Blog Style Cocktail Party. I hope you will find some new blogs to follow and expand your circle of blog friends. I know you're all anxious to mingle, so I'll get right to it.

I'd like to introduce Nicole from the blog Tattoos And Teething Rings. I know you'll enjoy her blog as much as I do.

About Me

Tattoos and Teething Rings
California, United States

I am a typical housewife and mother of two...with tattoos and a husband in a touring rock band. We're normal with a twist. I enjoy getting new ink as much as trying new recipes and doing repairs around the house, or printing band tee shirts and volunteering in my daughter's class.

First, I'd like to start off by thanking Willoughby for having me; I love her blog and am honored to be a guest. Some of you may already be followers of my blog, but for those of you who haven't read it yet, let me introduce myself.

My name is Nicole and my blog is tattoosandteethingrings.blogspot.com, I'm 30 (eek!), married, with two kidlets- Aiven is going to be 9 in just a couple weeks, and Urijah is 16 months old. I also watch my 5 year old niece, Samira, during the week. My husband, Felix, works two jobs and is also in a touring band, so I do 90% of the day-to-day work myself. As you may have guessed from the title of my blog, I have more than the average person's share of tattoos (though mine pale in comparison to Felix, I'd say he's about 70% covered at this point), and I love tattoo art; I try to balance my life as the wife of a tattooed rock-and-roller and being the mom to two crazy kids. Our life is hectic, loud and fun.

My blog posts range from daily anecdotes, to pictures of the kids, some rants and raves, and occasionally recipes. I try to give my readers an insight into my daily life as a busy mom and wife who may not look like the typical housewife, but who struggles and celebrates the same things we all face as moms. If I had to describe myself in five words they would be: honest, sarcastic, loving, creative and curious.

I hope that this gives you some idea of what you will find on my blog, and that you will take the time to drop in and check it out. Thanks again to Willoughby, this was a lot of fun to do!

Thank you Nicole for being a guest on my blog.

The cocktail party will continue on Wednesday with a new guest blogger. It's not too late to RSVP if you haven't already. You can send your submission to me at thisstopwilloughby@yahoo.com.   (If you're not already a follower, you must become one to be a guest blogger at the cocktail party.) I would appreciate it if you could send me your post in html format. If you are submitting a new post, create it on Blogger as you would any post. Save, but don't publish it. From there you can click "edit html" and copy and paste your blog into the body of an email. If you are submitting a previously published post, go into "edit" and follow the same instructions. This makes it much easier for me to display your blog post the way you have written it and saves me a lot of editing. If you have any questions, feel free to email me.

Skip Breakfast And Have An Adventure

We're skipping breakfast again.  I know you were expecting Mr. Willoughby to dazzle you with his cooking skills, but he doesn't feel like cooking today.  He wants to go skydiving. Yesterday, a friend sent us a link to an article about a new place to skydive in Michigan.  When I clicked on the link, I was surprised to see a familiar face. We'll get to that in a minute. You may recall that Mr. W started skydiving by taking a tandem jump a few years ago.  With a tandem jump, having a great instructor makes the difference between a fun experience and an amazing experience and Mr. W had Josh Sheppard; one of the best.  Josh is experienced, enthusiastic and passionate about skydiving.  Mr. W had such an amazing experience that he decided to take the AFF course (to learn to jump solo) before they were back on the ground.   So back to that article, the familiar face I saw was Josh.  He and his brother Abe have started a new skydiving business in Owo...

Timeline

I made Spaghetti with Tomato Basil Cream Sauce and Chicken Parmesan for dinner last night. It's not a difficult meal to prepare, but it does require the oven and multiple burners on the cooktop so it heats up the kitchen. After dinner, it was still awfully warm inside, so I left all of the dishes right where there were and my husband and I went outside to sit on the back porch and cool off. We had eaten rather late, so it was already dark outside. Our neighborhood was uncharacteristically quiet and the only sounds were that of the crickets chirping and the faint whoosh of cars passing by on Main Street. It was a perfect summer evening, the sort that you dream about in the middle of February. I asked my husband what he thought we might have been doing at that exact moment one year ago. Had we been sitting in the same place enjoying similarly beautiful weather? Had I made the same meal for dinner? What about five years ago? How about 10, 15, and 20 years ago? I know I've taken a ...

Public Service Announcement

I'm not quite ready to come back yet, but I wanted to take a few minutes to post my version of a Public Service Announcement.  As many of you already know, I've been away from blogging due to illness.  However, what you may not know is that the illness is H1N1.  Yep, the Swine Flu. I can honestly say that I've never felt so terrible in my life.  I had heard that for most people, H1N1 is no worse than the regular seasonal flu.  I guess I'm not most people.  After 15 days, I'm only now beginning to feel slightly human.  I was unable to get vaccinated because our area ran out of vaccine months ago.  I understand that it has recently become available again, but it's too late for me.  It's not too late for you, though.  If the vaccine is available in your area and you haven't gotten it yet, I beg you to drop what you're doing and take your family to get vaccinated. If you ignore my advice and decide to develop your immunity by gettin...
