Time For A Change

I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror, yesterday, and I didn't like what I saw. There are a lot of things I'd like to change about myself, but, in this case it was my hair. I know I've told you before just how much I hate my hair and how it never looks quite the way I want it to, but this was beyond sub-par. It was neatly pulled back in a clip as it usually is, but it has gotten too long and it just looked hopelessly outdated. Remember what Aunt Bee on The Andy Griffith Show looked like when her hair wasn't in a bun? Put denim shorts and a hoodie on that image and you'll have a good idea how I looked.

Yes, I am exaggerating a little bit, but you get the idea. I don't want to be one of those people you see who can't let go of the past and have the same hair style and wardrobe they had when they went to Woodstock.

My first reaction was to grab a pair of scissors and start hacking away. I wanted to gather all of my hair into a pony tail and give it a chop, but the kids talked me out of it. It's probably for the best because I wasn't sure what style I wanted.

This morning I went to the Oxygen website and tried their makeovermatic game. Once you create a free account, you can upload a picture of yourself and try different hairstyles and make up. I haven't willingly had my picture taken in more than 10 years, but I worked it out.

So what do you think? Is it me or is it me?

That looks like a great cut that would 1)work on any face shape, 2)look good no matter your age, and 3)be easy to do each day. Good luck! Be brave! (And go to a professional!)

I love it! I need to go get my hair cut and colored - I do it myself! Haven't been to a professional in, oh, four years?

And it looks that way, too! ;)

Your pretty and I like it when your hair is down. But if you get your hair cut that way you need to go to a PROFESSIONAL!!!! lol

And you look nothing like that lady!!
I recently cut my long hair to about chin-length; it was an easy decision since I hate doing my hair. But, I did the right thing and went to a nice salon for the cut- please don't cut it yourself! I swear, the right cut buy a good stylist makes all the difference; it takes me 10 minutes from soaking wet to great style in the morning :)

I feel your pain! At the start of the summer I decided it was time to finally cut my hair short enough that I'd have to "do" something with it other than pull it back in a ponytail. WHAT A MISTAKE. I'm growing it back long enough to be able to clip back on hot days, when I'm cooking or just plain too tired. So BEWARE when you start snipping :-)

And, Thanks a million for your kind comment about my More.com feature. As you could tell I was pretty excited about it. You made it feel all the more special.

The other day at the dinner table I said to my family, "I feel a haircut coming on." I paused for effect and then I added, "Self-inflicted." In unison they waved their hands in front of their faces and with eyes opened wide shouted "NO-o-o-o-o!" I got the message.

I like that hair style a lot. I think it'll look great on you. I desperately need to get my hair cut. i didn't know about the makeovergame.com, that is so cool! I definitely have to try that. Although finding a pic of me is gonna be tough. hmmmm...I've needed to get my hair cut for several months. I keep thinking I want to do something different from my usual long layered bob. It's just too grown out now and it's shapeless and blah so I started thinking I need a change but what I probably need is just my hair cut. Still maybe I'll find somthing really good on makeovergame.com. Then I have to do something, almost anything about the gray LOL

Skip Breakfast And Have An Adventure

We're skipping breakfast again.  I know you were expecting Mr. Willoughby to dazzle you with his cooking skills, but he doesn't feel like cooking today.  He wants to go skydiving. Yesterday, a friend sent us a link to an article about a new place to skydive in Michigan.  When I clicked on the link, I was surprised to see a familiar face. We'll get to that in a minute. You may recall that Mr. W started skydiving by taking a tandem jump a few years ago.  With a tandem jump, having a great instructor makes the difference between a fun experience and an amazing experience and Mr. W had Josh Sheppard; one of the best.  Josh is experienced, enthusiastic and passionate about skydiving.  Mr. W had such an amazing experience that he decided to take the AFF course (to learn to jump solo) before they were back on the ground.   So back to that article, the familiar face I saw was Josh.  He and his brother Abe have started a new skydiving business in Owo...

Timeline

I made Spaghetti with Tomato Basil Cream Sauce and Chicken Parmesan for dinner last night. It's not a difficult meal to prepare, but it does require the oven and multiple burners on the cooktop so it heats up the kitchen. After dinner, it was still awfully warm inside, so I left all of the dishes right where there were and my husband and I went outside to sit on the back porch and cool off. We had eaten rather late, so it was already dark outside. Our neighborhood was uncharacteristically quiet and the only sounds were that of the crickets chirping and the faint whoosh of cars passing by on Main Street. It was a perfect summer evening, the sort that you dream about in the middle of February. I asked my husband what he thought we might have been doing at that exact moment one year ago. Had we been sitting in the same place enjoying similarly beautiful weather? Had I made the same meal for dinner? What about five years ago? How about 10, 15, and 20 years ago? I know I've taken a ...

Public Service Announcement

I'm not quite ready to come back yet, but I wanted to take a few minutes to post my version of a Public Service Announcement.  As many of you already know, I've been away from blogging due to illness.  However, what you may not know is that the illness is H1N1.  Yep, the Swine Flu. I can honestly say that I've never felt so terrible in my life.  I had heard that for most people, H1N1 is no worse than the regular seasonal flu.  I guess I'm not most people.  After 15 days, I'm only now beginning to feel slightly human.  I was unable to get vaccinated because our area ran out of vaccine months ago.  I understand that it has recently become available again, but it's too late for me.  It's not too late for you, though.  If the vaccine is available in your area and you haven't gotten it yet, I beg you to drop what you're doing and take your family to get vaccinated. If you ignore my advice and decide to develop your immunity by gettin...
